Glass Jar Gifts
Glass Jar Gifts and the Environment
Glass Jar Gifts endeavour to give back to the community. We carry out a variety of work. This includes charity work, workshops and training. We make our expertise widely available, working in schools and prisons. We also work with local businesses and communities.
Where possible, we source product in the UK. We use Kilner Glass Jars, invented in the 1840s, at the Kilner Glass Works in Dewsbury, England.
We strive to purchase paper and packaging which is certified by the PEFC. The PEFC are the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification scheme. The PEFC is an independent scheme. The PEFC certify suppliers who use sustainable methods in their products. This allows us to source products sustainably.
All suppliers are monitored, whether in the UK, Europe or elsewhere in the world. Standards are continually checked to ensure suppliers throughout the world operate in a fair and responsible way.
Waste
Glass Jar Gifts constantly seeks efficient ways to use or dispose of waste. We always improve on environmental performance in all areas. We seek ways to reduce waste consumption and re-use materials. We recycle all paper, cardboard, glass and plastic. For advice on all aspects of recycling, please visit Recyle More.
Charity Efforts
Glass Jar Gifts makes regular contributions to charities and schools in the UK and abroad. We are currently training for the Race for Life, to raise money for Cancer Research.
Life long learning
Glass Jar Gifts helps people of all ages to learn new skills. We are currently carrying out PhD research into life long learning in businesses and schools. Glass Jar Gifts are developing mobile and three dimensional virtual learning communities.
Community development
We help groups to learn new skills from the projects in Glass Jar Gifts. We organise craft workshops and respond to needs in networks and communities.
